Pumpkin's Story

Pumpkin’s world just got a little bigger. We recently moved him from the Quonset Hut into the house to help him experience a new environment—and true to his nature, he picked a quiet corner and stayed there. For dogs like Pumpkin, who’ve lived feral or survived hoarding situations, hiding isn’t unusual. It’s a form of safety, of control. And that’s okay. Around here, we’ve learned that patience wins every time.
We’re not pushing Pumpkin to do anything he’s not ready for. In fact, the more we “ignore” him, the more curious he gets. Every now and then, he peeks out to watch Lily or inch a little closer to the action. He’s not in a hurry—and neither are we. Watching a dog like Pumpkin slowly choose connection on his own terms? That’s where the real magic happens.
Lilly's Story

Lilly may have started life on shaky legs—literally—but she’s quickly become the heart of Flip’s Farm. Originally mistaken for a Swimmer’s Syndrome case, Lilly was later diagnosed with a rare skeletal condition that affects her mobility, along with hypothyroidism and a few missing vertebrae. Despite all this, she’s resilient, full of spirit, and determined to live life her way.
From the start, she impressed her doctors with her progress in therapy, adapting to a specialized routine that helps strengthen her body and support her long-term health. After months of rehab, Lilly officially became Flip’s Farm’s very first forever resident. Her condition requires lifelong care, and while she’s expected to enjoy several more good years, her health could decline rapidly when the time comes. That’s why we’re committed to giving her the best life—right here, surrounded by a team who knows her needs and celebrates her wins, no matter how small.
Lilly has taught us that quality of life isn’t about running the fastest—it’s about moving forward at your own pace, surrounded by people who love you exactly as you are.

COLD BREW vs. ICED COFFEE
___________________________________________
At a glance cold brew and iced coffee seem to be synonymous, but in reality, they could not be more different. There are three main differentiating factors between the two:
- BREW: Cold brew, as apparent from its name, is brewed cold. It is never heated up. It is a process that requires more time and patience than the standard brewing process. Iced coffee, on the other hand, is brewed hot and then cooled down and poured over ice.
- CAFFEINE: Cold brew has 3 times the amount of caffeine than standard coffee.
- TASTE: The heating and cooling process involved in making iced coffee weakens the taste, and it often just tastes like watery, cold coffee. The heat also causes higher levels of acidity, as opposed to cold brew which has half the acidity normally found in coffee. Cold brew is slightly sweeter, much smoother, and easier on the stomach.
HOW TO MAKE COLD BREW COFFEE
___________________________________________
Using French Press
1. Add ground coffee & cold, filtered water to French Press (we recommend a 4:1 ratio of water & coffee. For example, 4 cups of cold filtered water to 1 cup of ground coffee).
2. Stir, cover & leave in fridge overnight
3. After ~ 12-18 hours, press & enjoy!
Using a Mason Jar
1. Add ground coffee & cold, filtered water to jar (we recommend a 4:1 ratio of water & coffee).
2. Stir, cover with lid, & leave in fridge overnight
3. After ~ 12-18 hours, strain coffee using a fine mesh strainer and/or cheesecloth & enjoy!
FLIP IS MORE THAN JUST COFFEE...
it's a heartfelt tribute from Founders Rocky & Kelly Kanaka to their late boxer, Flip who was a mentor and guide to the many foster dogs that came into their home. Flip taught them how to trust and embrace life. At Flip Coffee, we celebrate Flip's legacy by supporting the rehabilitation of shelter dogs and giving them the second chance they deserve. Every cup of coffee sold helps continue Flip’s mission of healing and hope
